I was so lucky a couple weeks ago to have my friend Glenda come visit me. She had a rare few days off work and was able to accompany her hubby to So Cal for a conference - which meant I got some Glenda play time! I also finally got to meet her husband Karl, which was an added bonus (hi Karl)!
Glenda's visit landed week before school started, so I suckered into working one day in my classroom to help me get ready for the year. It worked out great as I needed help bringing The Dragon back to my classroom (his tank is super heavy). Glenda took this fun photo of him - he's such a handsome lil dude :)
Despite being a total crafty girl, Glenda is also a geologist, so I found the perfect job for her - organizing my classroom sand collection!
It's a big job as I think I'm almost at 150 samples now. Now, I usually just randomly line up the samples, but she got the genius idea to organize it by color, which looks lovely. She mentioned her alternative was to organize it by geographic region but thought that would take too long, LOL. I love you Glenda!
We, of course, managed to squeeze in a little crafty time amongst the work. Glenda happened to bring along an adorable stamp set from Paper Smooches (Surf & Turf). When I saw the pelican in the set, I just knew we had to make a card for our friend Dawn (who is completely smitten with pelicans)! Both Glenda and I are so lucky to have Dawn as a friend in our lives - she is so supportive and encouraging, despite the great distances between all of us. Both Glenda and I commented on how much Dawn has cheered us both on when we needed a cheerleader and a friend.
We were eager to make this special card for her.
It is a beautiful thing, that despite distance and time, friendship can transcend. I think we just wish we had time to make all of our crafty girls something special.
The weight of today's DATE hasn't escapted me. Be sure to let your friends know how much you love them :)
Great post! Thanks for a great visit... hugs...
